Looking For Bloggers!

The Plan

Dueling Ogres has been steadily growing over the past few years, with some mega-leaps in recent months. We feel like the podcast itself has a solid vibe that stands on its own merit while still having room to grow much richer over time, but a weekly-ish schedule is just not enough to share the joy that the internet creates. So it stands to reason that we want more! Not only that, we want to bring you more, but we need your help!

The Pitch

KoboldMGThe only way we can think to bring this intangible ‘more’ is by inviting you likeminded orcs, bugbears, gnolls, and even kobolds (don’t worry little guys, we won’t take your candle – probably) to share your views in a constructed, informative fashion. We’re looking for talented writers who feel passionate enough about the nerdy content around them to scream their voice into the dank, smelly caverns that make up the Dueling Ogres stronghold and cultivate an ogre army that razes other similar strongholds to the ground!!

The Play

The first thing we have to tell you is this: This is not a paying gig. We are not big enough to offer anything but love, experience, and a place to tell your tale. In the grand scheme of things, we’re looking to collect enough writers where there’s an article going out at least once a day. As we grow our horde, we may be able to offer tithes for your efforts, but that is a long way away.

What We Want

We’re looking for thoughtfully crafted and – in some cases – properly sourced opinion articles about a topic that is important to you that falls in line with the feel of the show (and yes, that includes humor – I mean, if you think we’re funny. I’m not just fishing for compliments here). This means, at least initially, that posts will be reviewed before being made public to ensure the content fits in our motif. Any changes will be discussed by Dueling Ogres staff and the author of the article prior to its publication. Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Art
  • Comics
  • Gaming (PC, console, tabletop, board, etc.)
  • Literature (non-comic)
  • Movies
  • Music
  • Science
  • Society (geek/nerd culture, primarily)
  • Technology
  • Television
  • Toys

We’re also open to reviews on any of the aforementioned topics, the creation of community polls, and even one-on-one written or transcribed interviews with persons of note in any of those industries.

What You’ll Get

If you’re just getting started in this blogging world, we can provide you with tools that can improve your writing technique, teach you basic article construction, offer a medium for your voice to be heard and interacted with in a structured environment, and establish yourself in the online community.

If you’re an old hat at blogging, you’ll be able to lend your experience to newcomers, hone your skills, and hopefully expand your readership while simultaneously helping us to grow through your premium contributions.

You will also receive access to a training video on how to use WordPress and the plugins that drive our site, as well as an optional @duelingogres.com email. In addition, if you create your own content, you’ll be allowed to shamelessly plug your new or upcoming projects to our growing audience!

The P…end?

I ran out of P-words to close this post because, quite frankly, I’m not that creative. But that’s where you come in! If you have any interest in being a contributor to Dueling Ogres, shoot an email to bloggers@duelingogres.com and feel free to write up either a real or mock article and attach it to the email if you’d like for us to have an example of your work!

Thank you very much for your consideration! We’re looking forward to working with you to grow a diverse and thriving community!

BlackDogSerenade

The gentle sasquatch, known colloquially as "Remington," has been kicking around the rolling hills of West Virginia for hundreds of years. It is uncertain where he came from or where he will eventually end up, but for the time being you can usually find him hunkered behind any restaurant dumpster searching for half-eaten cheeseburgers while humming "What if God was One of Us?"

While he's not reminiscing fondly over his ill-gotten acorn collection, you can also catch him pretending to know anything at all about audio while trying to produce this train wreck they call a podcast in his "studio," which is nothing more than an multidimensional pocket shimmed between the fabric of space-time. That's where sasquatches live, you know.
