Ever thought of designing your own game? RPG Maker gives you that opportunity!
So full disclosure: I’ve never used RPG Maker. I’ve never dabbled in game design past building my own worlds in Dungeons and Dragons. Man, we have some stories from all of our adventures!
At first, I gave this bundle only a cursory glance. I like RPG’s, but I’ve not really played a ton of them. But then it struck me: If I can make worlds in D&D, why not see if this software could lend itself to building out a campaign? So I started digging deeper.
RPG Maker: A Brief Look
RPG Maker is a long-running series of developmental software programs designed to make the creation of digital role-playing games something that anyone can do. Originally released in Japan in 1992, the RPG Maker series has continued to evolve and expand until it’s most recent release RPG Maker MV in 2015. Several ported options had been available to the states, but it wasn’t until RPG Maker XP that an English version was officially released in 2005!
While on the surface, this looks like a drag-and-drop style editor, there have been many people who have created some amazing titles using this very software. The bundle includes some of these award winning games so you can see what’s possible and perhaps serve as your inspiration. In fact, RPG Maker hosts a (sometimes) yearly event called Indie Game Maker Contest where you can “compete for over $10,000 in Cash Prizes!” But you’d better hurry! The contest started October 4th and runs until November 5th!

Support charity. Choose where the money goes – between the developers, Extra Life/Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, the IndieCade Foundation, Child’s Play, and, if you’d like, a charity of your choice via the PayPal Giving Fund. If you like the bundle or like what we do, you can leave us a Humble Tip too!
As an added bonus, because Dueling Ogres is now partnered with Humble Bundle, you can also choose to donate any amount to our cause as well, or support the charity that I am most fond of, Child’s Play! If you decide to pick this up, I hope you have a ton of fun tinkering! I know I will!
While he's not reminiscing fondly over his ill-gotten acorn collection, you can also catch him pretending to know anything at all about audio while trying to produce this train wreck they call a podcast in his "studio," which is nothing more than an multidimensional pocket shimmed between the fabric of space-time. That's where sasquatches live, you know.
